Imperial Ages – first words
Alex /
For those that read this and don’t know whats it all about, Imperial Ages is a text-based strategy browser game played together with up to 25.000 other players online. All you need is a browser with Java installed and the time to play it. Its free and it has a lot of time put into it, so we hope everyone will enjoy it. With on and off periods, Imperial Ages has half of year of development behind it. Our current target is April 2007 for a limited alpha test and the end of May or the beginning of June 2007 for the general launch of the game.
And now a presentation of some of the features that can be found in the game:
- 4 civilizations: Papal State, Hanseatic League, Mongols and Valachia
- 3 eras or ages: The game takes 9 months split in 3 ages of 3 months each. Each age brings new buildings and a new look for the game and replaces all the old units with new ones, more powerful, more advanced technologically and … more expensive :)
- Each of the four civilizations has its own 12 military units, 8 of which change for the better when a new age begins. The other four are the spies, the unit that founds new villages, the unit that conquers villages and the general that gives bonuses for atack or defense. This brings the total number of military units in the game, across all ages, to 112 units.
- 4 resources: wood, iron, stone and gold
- the ability to found villages and grow them from the ground up, the ability to conquer villages already built from other players or to pillage them
- promote any of your units to general and grow him to be a fine leader, with bonuses for the army in areas like atack and defense
- rams to tear down walls and catapults to turn buildings to rubble, all upgradeable to cannons in the ages that follow
- join an alliance and fight in wars, raid other players, atack, catapult, spy on them or simply trade resources
You can subscribe to the RSS feed if you wish to know when the game is launched, or you can visit us from time to time :). I’ll try to update this blog as often as possible, as the development of the game progresses.
